Gravity Well Narrative

Below are the written and voiced narrative elements for Gravity Well. All dialogue is written by me and voiced by a myriad of team members, Twitch streamers, and myself.

Gravity Well: Artificial Intelligence

We felt it necessary for the player to have some kind of engaging presence onboard the seemingly derelict space station that would initially aid the player on information as to how to use the Gravity Well Device itself, as well as flesh out the story a bit from a neutral, observer point of view. I wrote and recorded the space station AI with the goal of meeting these two goals in mind.

Gravity Well: Contractor/Antagonist

We needed an external source to provide the player with their mission, and this is where the off screen contractor came into being. He would be the entity acting as a liaison between "higher powers" and the player and give the player his mission. However, since the minor hints of the story provide that this contractor serves a galactic empire bent on conquest, I decided to make him arrogant and threatening. I wrote and recorded the contractor to have only a few communications between the player but in a gradual scale, in which by the end the player would see the held back disgust and arrogance evolve into pure anger and threats.

Gravity Well: Space Station Audio Logs

In order to bring a sense of atmosphere and more detailed bits for the story side of the game, I wrote 6 different character types that would all be scientists and researchers who would have been on board the station before their disappearance. Once they had been briefly fleshed out via their personalities, I designated to write 3 audio logs for each character, which would then be placed on audio logs throughout the station. We worked in tandem with fellow teammates as well as outside sources to acquire several unique voices to be recorded and matched to the personalities, providing a diversity of voices within the game.

Gravity Well: Secret Riddles

There are riddles in the game that lead to something... more. However as much as I'd like to post them, for obvious reasons I cannot and you must play the game to find out. I wrote and recorded the riddles as well, and I hope that you solve this last puzzle, for there is a reward to be had!
